I was first introduced to metal engraving when I was in High School. At the time I traveled to car shows selling T-shirts for Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, and etching designs on car windows for extra money. I was inspired to try metal engraving by a collection of hand engraved knives that Ed had. At the time I didn't have time to try it out, but I knew it was something I wanted to pursue.
In the mid 1990s, I got my chance to give metal engraving a try. I had broken my ankle badly at work, and I needed two surgeries to repair it. While I was recovering, Click to read this story I bought some tools, and traveled to Montana, for a basic engraving course with Barry Lee Hands.   (continued)

Bruno´s Art & Sculpture Garden  www.brunosart.comClick to visit the www.brunosart.com website
Bruno has been able to re-enter Maryville on a special pass to investigate the state of the garden. What he has found there can only be described as a bittersweet miracle. Just over half of the terracotta sculptures have survived the blaze or have a chance of being repaired. We are humbled by this fortunate outcome. Many people lost everything they had. At least there is hope for us.
I don't mean to understate this situation in anyway. The fact that so many of Bruno's artworks have survived is nothing short of a miracle. (Bless clay for its magical properties.) Most of the damage caused to the sculptures was actually due to falling trees and debris.

Hobo Nickels  02.02.09  By Derek Dahlsad
When I was researching the Buffalo nickel two weeks ago, I was surprised to see strange versions of the coin's “indian head” obverse, the indian “heads” side wearing unusual headgear that clearly wasn't the Mint's original design. As I dug deeper, I discovered that the coin was once a Buffalo Nickel, but an ingenious artist had altered the coin to their own creative specifications.
